West Linn Chamber of Commerce Profitability Center – Peer Advisory Board

The West Linn Chamber of Commerce Profitability Center believes that every business has common elements and finite problems.  All businesses face critical issues but very few of these are unique.  The West Linn Chamber of Commerce’s Peer Advisory Board allows access to years of experience and expertise of other business owners.  Simply stated, there’s no need to recreate the wheel or learn through trial and error.  Experience is a better teacher and business owners learn more from those that have done it before.

West Linn Chamber of Commerce Profitability Center Advisory Board Facilitators help focus and promote accountability in order to make headway with strategic planning or issues.  What to expect at a typical Peer Advisory Board meeting:  Advisory Board members update and discuss immediate crises, present strategic issues, concerns or opportunities facing their business.  The ensuing discussion involves the business owners’ experiences, advice and recommendations from their peer members.  Members are asked to report on follow up items at subsequent meetings.

Each Peer Advisory Board is comprised of a small number of local business owners (6 to 10), who run non-competing businesses.  These boards are formed and facilitated by the West Linn Chamber of Commerce Business Training Center.  Each month, roundtable members meet to share their business expertise, solve business challenges, and help each other seize new opportunities to achieve enhanced profitable growth and success.

Each member of a West Linn Chamber of Commerce Profitability Center Peer Advisory Board Roundtable receives a monthly, individual mentoring session.  The member and mentor discuss, among other things, how each member’s business is progressing by comparing actual versus projected results.  They evaluate the tactics needed to make the projected results happen.  Mentoring sessions involve a variety of tools and techniques that make strategic planning effective for privately owned businesses.

While an West Linn Chamber of Commerce Profitability Center Peer Advisory Board is ongoing, each member commits to be a member for one year.  A Peer Advisory Board meets once each month for 3 hours.  The cost is only $125.00 each month ($1,500.00 annually), which includes 36 hours of instruction and 24 hours of business mentoring for accountability.  That’s an investment of only $25.00 an hour in yourself and your business!  An investment that can prevent you from making more costly mistakes down the road and increase your chance of success by 400%.
